Settlement as a Skilled Worker
Since 1st December 2020, migrants who would have applied for settlement in the UK (“indefinite leave to remain”) under Tier 2 now must apply under a new Skilled Worker route.

EU Citizens Encouraged to Leave the UK
Since the start of 2021, a voluntary returns scheme has been in place, designed to encourage EU nationals to leave the UK. Those added to the scheme are offered financial incentives, with the Home Office offering to pay their travel costs and give them £2,000 resettlement costs.

Settled Status Confusion
EU citizens are being unnecessarily asked to provide the right to remain documents when applying for jobs or renting property due to settled status confusion over the UK Settled Status rules. Although it has now formally left the EU, EU citizens in the UK do not need to provide evidence of Settled Status until the Settlement Scheme deadline of 30th June 2021 has passed.
Visa Rules Target Doctors From Poorest Countries
According to a letter in the South African Medical Journal, UK Visa rules are targeting medical professionals and doctors from the poorest countries in the world. The letter – by two doctors- describes the UK’s way of recruiting overseas healthcare professionals as ‘insensitive’.
