On Friday 19 of June, the United Kingdom Visa and Citizenship Application Service (UKVCAS) announced the plans for the phased reopening of its visa application centres. As of Monday 22 June, UKVCAS will release more appointments, adding extra service points and reopening the booking system for customers in phases.
UKVCAS Booking System
The booking system will reopen in date order starting with those who registered prior to 27 March but did not already have an appointment date. Previously only those who had outstanding appointments could attend a visa application centre, so this represents progress.
UKVCAS is working from the earliest registrations in the interests of fairness. Customers who registered before 27 March will receive an email on 21st or 22nd of June with details of how to arrange an appointment.
UKVCAS Service Points
UKVCAS says that all its service points are clean and safe and social distancing measures are now built-in. Due to the COVID-19 guidelines from the government, application and citizenship services are only to offered at a few locations initially, with a lower than usual capacity.
