The Home Office has agreed on a series of temporary concessions to support Ukrainian nationals in the UK who are unable to return when their visa expires. These concessions will help Ukrainian nationals during their stay in the UK without them having to leave the country and re-apply for a visa from overseas.

If you are in the UK and unable to return to Ukraine, you might be able to extend your visa or switch it to another one even if the visa you have does not ordinarily allow you to do so.

If you are a visitor to the UK:

The Home Office has introduced a concession that allows Ukrainian nationals on a visitor visa to the UK to switch into the points-based route or family visa route.

If you entered the UK on a visitor visa and now cannot return to Ukraine you can apply to switch it to another visa. You’ll need to meet the requirements of the new visa route and pay any associated fees.

If you are a Skilled Worker

If you have a Skilled Worker visa that is due to expire then you can apply to extend your leave or you can apply for settlement (so long as you meet all the Immigration Rules).

If you are a student

If you are in the UK on a student visa that is about to expire you can make an application to extend your leave or switch it to a Graduate visa, provided you meet the Immigration Rules.

If you are a seasonal worker

Seasonal workers can extend their visas to 31st December 2022 if they cannot return to Ukraine. You must continue to work in a job that is permitted by the Seasonal Worker route, and with the same sponsor.

UKVI will work with your Immigration Sponsor so you do not need to do anything to apply for your visa extension. You will receive a notification from the Home Office.
