Before applying for a Schengen Visa, should check if your home country can have visa-free travel through Europe. Generally, EU or EEA nationals do not need a European Visa. Nationals from the following countries are also exempt from Schengen Visa requirements:

  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Czech Republic
  • Denmark
  • Estonia
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • Greece
  • Hungary
  • Iceland
  • Italy
  • Latvia
  • Liechtenstein
  • Lithuania
  • Luxembourg
  • Malta
  • Netherlands
  • Norway
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Slovakia
  • Slovenia
  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland

Your visa-free status may sometimes be transmitted to your dependants and spouse too.

Along with the application form, you need several documents for a Schengen Visa:

  • Your passport. Must be not older than ten years and remain valid for a minimum of three months beyond the date you depart Europe.
  • Your travel itinerary, including dates, flight, and hotel reservations;
  • Travel insurance, with a minimum of €30,000 coverage;
  • Evidence of the financial means to support yourself throughout your stay in Europe;

Before you can get a Schengen Visa, you have to be eligible. This means meeting the requirements and submitting all the Schengen Visa supporting documents.
