What do I need to provide?
You need to provide proof identity, nationality, and residency in the UK. This will require a scan of a physical document and a facial image of yourself: To prove identity and nationality, you must upload a scan of your passport or national identity card. Your passport or card has to have a biometric chip. If you do not have a biometric document, you can send your passport or ID card in the post, and you will then have to have your fingerprints and photograph taken at an application centre in your area.
To prove your residency in the UK, you need to show you have lived for at least five continuous years in the UK. You can upload evidence digitally, such as bank statements, or the UK government may be able to check your continuous residency by looking at Her Majesty Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and Department for Work and Pension (DWP) data. If you have been issued with a permanent residence document, it ceases to be valid after 31st December 2020, so you must apply for Settled Status before it expires.
Is there a fee to pay?
Although plans were announced for the EU Settlement Scheme to cost £65, the fees were scrapped on 21st January 2019.
