Conservatives

The Prime Minister wants the UK to leave the EU with the deal he has agreed. The revised deal has not been approved by Parliament, and Brexit has left the Conservative Party divided. 21 of its MPs were expelled recently for rebelling Brexit. Ten have now rejoined.

Labour

Labour wishes to renegotiate the Brexit deal and then put it to a public vote with a choice between Remain and a “credible” Leave option. Labour says it intends to negotiate for the UK to stay in the EU customs union and have a close relationship with the single market. The UK would continue trading without checks with the EU, but could not make trade deals with any other countries.

SNP

The SNP wants the UK to stay a member of the EU and is campaigning for a second Brexit referendum.

Liberal Democrats

The Liberal Democrats say they will cancel Brexit if they win the general election and otherwise support a second referendum.

Democratic Unionist Party

The DUP wants the UK to leave the EU, but it is unhappy with the government’s revised deal as it could divide Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK.

The Independent Group for Change

The party of MPs who have left their parties because of disagreement over Brexit back another referendum, a “People’s Vote”, and wish for the UK to stay in the EU.

Plaid Cymru

Despite Wales voting to leave in the referendum, the party wants to remain via another referendum.

Green Party

Caroline Lucas, the Greens’ only MP, has campaigned for another referendum, and she believes the UK should remain an EU member.

Brexit Party

The Brexit Party says the UK should leave the EU without a deal, in a “clean-break Brexit”. It disputes the revised Brexit plan from the government because it still involves paying the EU a settlement of £39.
