The advice is as follows:
Applicants who are in the UK and whose leave expires between 24th January 2020 and 31st May 2020
Your visa may be extended to 31st May 2020 if you cannot leave the UK because of restrictions on travel or self-isolation due to coronavirus (COVID-19).
You must contact the Coronavirus Immigration Team (CIT) if your visa is expiring and you did not plan to stay in the UK.
You must provide (in English):
- your full name (include any middle names)
- date of birth (dd/mm/yyyy)
- nationality
- your visa reference number
- why you can’t return your home country
People applying to stay in the UK long-term
You can apply to switch to a long-term UK visa until 31st May 2020 from within the UK, even if you would usually need to apply for a visa from your home country.
Application and Service Centres
Visa and Citizenship Application Centres and Service and Support Centres in the UK are temporarily closed, so you cannot book an appointment. If you have already made an appointment, then you will be contacted as it has been cancelled.
If you are on a Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa and business has been disrupted
- The 12-month period you are required to employ someone for can be made up of multiple employees across different months.
- Time, when employees were furloughed, does not count towards the 12 months.
- If you have been unable to employ staff for 12 months by the time your visa expires, you will be allowed to extend your stay to give you more time.
