The UK Visa and Citizenship Application Service (UKVCAS) has progressed further in the gradual reopening of the immigration system. Its booking system has been reopened for more customers, more Service Points have been reopened, and the Identity Verification App has been launched, so previously-recorded biometrics can be submitted directly.
Online booking system
Capacity in the online system continues to be increased. Appointments are available to customers with applications that were received up to 31st July 2020. If you get an email from UKVCAS asking you to book an appointment, you must do so. This email means you are not able to use previously-submitted biometrics.
Reopening of service points
Additional service points have opened in key cities:
- Birmingham – Passport Office
- London – Passport Office
Service points in libraries have also started to reopen. There are 10 libraries offering appointments:
- Bournemouth
- Cardiff
- Enfield
- Edmonton Green
- Manchester
- Swindon
- Taunton
- Hull
- Newcastle
- Ipswich
Uploading documents to the UKVCAS website
You can upload documents to the UKVCAS website prior to submitting your biometric information or completing an identity check. You only need to upload the documents once: at a Service Point, on the UKVCAS website or through the Identity Verification app.
The UKVCAS Identity Verification app
This app allows you to submit information to UKVI without booking or attending a face-to-face appointment. It involves taking a photograph of yourself and uploading it with your phone.
